SCREEN Americas Hosts Executive Preview Event for Customers Planning to Install the New Truepress JET 560HDX

Solar eclipses are monumental events and it just so happened that less than twenty-four hours after the moon passed between the sun and the earth, SCREEN Americas had a monumental event of its own. April 9, 2024 found the company’s Inkjet Innovation Center in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, filled with customers who had come to check out SCREEN’s latest high-speed digital inkjet technology—the Truepress JET 560HDX.

With 1,200 x 1,200 dpi capabilities, an expanded color gamut, state-of-the art curing techniques, anti-flushing printhead technologies, and the ability to handle an expanded range of popular substrates up to 22 inches wide, the Truepress JET 560HDX will unequivocally allow commercial, direct mail and publishing printers the ability to expand their clientele and reach new markets.

Attendees had the opportunity to see the 560HDX operate at full speed and full resolution as high-speed inkjet product manager, Aron Allenson, walked them through the intricacies of the press. Visitors also had the opportunity to network with other inkjet users and SCREEN’s resources including several individuals from SCREEN’s headquarters in Kyoto, Japan, who flew in for the event.

From the President

Ken Ingram

This year couldn’t be more exciting! Shortly after announcing the development of the Truepress JET 560HDX, we had several companies make commitments to install the new press. In April, we hosted executives from these companies at our Inkjet Innovation Center in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, and ran the press at full speed! We were also honored to have several members from the SCREEN team in Japan fly in for the event.

In May it was off to Germany for drupa! After eight years, it was certainly well worth the wait. In Düsseldorf, we caught up with a number of our American customers and were delighted to engage with SCREEN’s customers from around the world. Hats off to the European marketing team—they did a fantastic job setting up the booth.

In this edition of Inkjet IQ, you’ll find some key product announcements, including the release of a new high-density SU ink for uncoated paper used on the Truepress JET 520HD mono press and a digital primer option for the Truepress LABEL 350UV SAI S press.

We also have some new faces at SCREEN. Kunnio Muraji was recently appointed as COO for CGS, which was recently acquired by SCREEN GA, and Gabi Buccieri joined our marketing team. Welcome!

As always, there are recent installations covered in this issue. Check out what the industry is up to and…

Don’t forget to test your Inkjet IQ!

Truepress 560HDX Commitments

A number of printers across the United States have already made the commitment to purchase the Truepress JET 560HDX. Here’s who they are and what they had to say about SCREEN Americas…

The decision to go with technology from SCREEN was never a question. I have been buying equipment for 35 years; the relationship we have with SCREEN is unprecedented. I have easy access to everyone on the team at SCREEN Americas. Their service is impeccable both in maintenance and otherwise.”

We were assigned to print a brochure detailing a university’s regularly scheduled presidential tour. Instead of printing multiple copies containing all 10 dates, I suggested we customize the brochure to make 10 different versions with personalized mailing addresses on the back. This would have been more cumbersome and expensive on offset, but with the HD, it was a snap!”

Jim Myers, EVP
Art & Negative, Lanham, Maryland

Art & Negative

We needed a digital variable press to meet our customers’ needs at a competitive price. The HDX will also counter our labor challenges since SCREEN’s digital inkjet technology is so easy to operate. Automation is important and the quality from SCREEN rivals that of offset. Every page is perfect and is the same.”

Graphic Village, Cincinnati, Ohio

Projects that once took weeks to complete are now done in a matter of days. The impact that the HD has had on our production was a clear indicator that taking our business to the next level with the Truepress JET 560HDX would be a wise move.”

Jobs that once took JD Graphic seven days to complete are now finished in 24 hours. The time saved has allowed the printer to expand its publishing applications and fulfill requests for printing 200- to 500-page novels in quantities of 1,000 copies per run from 40 different authors. It has also branched out into the golf industry and prints an estimated 100 million score cards per year.

MCT

Direct Mail Printer Gains Competitive Edge with Two Presses from SCREEN

The Truepress JET 520NX was installed at MCT, also known as Marketing Card Technology, Downers Grove, Illinois. In March 2020, MCT invested in the Truepress JET 520HD+. With a capacity to print, insert and mail 1.5 million pieces per day, MCT struck a strategic balance in its workload with the two presses. The HD+ is reserved for customers seeking high-end promotional items requiring coated paper and the NX is reserved for jobs requiring uncoated paper.

In addition to providing full-service direct mail operations, MCT manufactures credit cards and personalized mock-up cards at a second facility in Darien, Illinois. MCT is popular in the retail, dining, hospitality, financial, entertainment and nonprofit industries.
